Is Your Phone System a Team Player?
This video was shot for RingCentral to announce the integration of their Cloud phone system with collaboration apps and tools such as Microsoft Office 365 and Google Workspace. The marketing team organized the production of an original Jazz song and I was tasked with storyboarding and producing the video. Through the collaborative effort of RingCentral's marketing and creative team we were able to create this fun creative video.

THE CHALLENGE
Production on this video was relatively smooth but that was mostly due to all of the pre-production planning that occurred before our shoot days. Once the musical arrangment was greenlit we had to plan the recording of the song and the video shoot with the musicians for the same day. Luckily, through careful storyboarding and production planning this was only a minor inconvenience and we were able to accomplish both well within our rental time.

OUR APPROACH
Much of the visual style for this video was inspired by the film “Whiplash”. During pre-production we discussed how collaboration be shown visually and tie in the collaboration between the Jazz band and between coworkers. Ultimately, we drew inspiration from the film Disney film “Ratatouille”, specifically the scene where Remy’s description of flavor his illustrated via dancing abstract shapes and colors. This visual tie-in was fun to animate and proved to be an eloquent way to show cohesion between the two different scenes.
